Did you know a goldfish can grow up to 12 inches or more, if in a pond. But when in a fish tank, it stays only a few inches! It's because it doesn't have the need to grow when in a fish tank.
I recently watched this Tedx Talk. It was a great talk: Why comfort will ruin your life by Bill Eckstrom I would wholeheartedly recommend this talk to you. The key takeaway is that "Growth only occurs in a state of discomfort."
This talk reminds me of a quote I memorized this week by one of the greatest boxers of all time, Muhammad Ali: "I hated every minute of training, but I said, don't quit, suffer now, and live the rest of your life as a champion." Clearly Ali did not simply train at a level that was comfortable. He trained at a much higher level!
This also reminds me of a talk by President Eyring of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mountains To Climb. He said "If we have faith in Jesus Christ, the hardest as well as the easiest times in life can be a blessing."
My goals for 2019 are to strive and push myself to be better and improve across the board: Physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, emotionally, maritally, familially, etc.
I guess I need to get out of my comfort zone even more!
What are you doing to get out of your comfort zone?
